Bark Lake is large lake located 45 minutes North of Bancroft in the Township of South Algonquin. The surface area of the lake is 9386 acres with a maximum depth of 87 meters. Fish species in Bark Lake include Lake Trout, Small-mouth bass, White sucker, Yellow Perch, Lake Whitefish and Round Whitefish. Bark Lake has also been stocked with Northern Pike and Walleye. Bark Lake is located along highway 60 west of Barry’s Bay. The Madawaska River flows into the lake at the north end, and a dam on the south end regulates the water level. Bark Lake is a beautiful deep, clear lake in the Canadian Shield.
There is very little development on the lake, with approximately 90% crown land surrounding. Bell Bay Provincial Park is located on the northern shores of Bark Lake.
